What's Your Row?
What’s the one challenge in your life that, if you conquered it, would change everything?
Hi friends,
This month, my mentor and friend, Peter Sage—creator of the Elite Mentorship Forum, which I graduated from in 2024 and now facilitate—returned to dry land after successfully rowing non-stop across the Atlantic Ocean with his teammate, Lee James.
The World’s Toughest Row is an annual 3,000-mile ocean race, one of the most grueling endurance events on the planet. Competitors battle relentless physical exertion, sleep deprivation, brutal weather, isolation, and even flying fish (a story for another day!).
Lifelong friends Peter, a serial entrepreneur dedicated to helping people break through mental barriers, and Lee, a former Royal Marine turned Veteran Support Specialist, took on this extraordinary challenge—not just to raise money for mental health charities, but to prove what’s possible with commitment, focus, and belief.
They describe their journey as a powerful metaphor for overcoming adversity, posing the question:
"What’s your row?"
In Peter’s words: "Rowing across the Atlantic was the ultimate test—physically, mentally, and emotionally. But we all have our own challenges, our own ‘row’ to cross."
So, what waves are you currently navigating? Whatever your personal challenge, you are not alone, and there is dry land waiting on the other side.

Why You Shouldn't Row Alone: The Role of Support In Your Transformation
If you were to find yourself in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, alone in a rowboat, with nothing but open water stretching endlessly in every direction, how long do you think you’d last?
Even the strongest, most determined person would struggle—physically, mentally, and emotionally—without someone else to share the burden, provide reassurance, and keep them going when exhaustion sets in.
Peter Sage and Lee James didn’t row across the Atlantic alone. They leaned on each other, alternating shifts so one could rest while the other rowed. They shared the weight of the challenge, encouraged each other through the toughest moments, and reminded one another why they started when doubt crept in.
And yet, how often do we try to "row alone" in life?
The Lone Wolf Trap: Why We Struggle to Ask for Help
For high-achievers—those who are driven, responsible, and used to being the person others rely on—there’s often an unspoken belief that we should be able to figure everything out alone.
You’ve built a strong career or business. You’re competent, resourceful, and the one people turn to for advice and support. But when it comes to your own challenges, feeling stuck, or not knowing what’s next, it’s easy to assume that you need to figure it out on your own.
Maybe you tell yourself: ✔ “I should be able to handle this—I’ve done harder things before.” ✔ “I don’t want to burden anyone else with my problems.” ✔ “I’ll figure it out eventually—I just need more time.”
But the truth is, navigating big life transitions—whether it’s redefining your career, rediscovering your purpose, or stepping into something new—isn’t meant to be a solo journey.
Who’s in Your Boat? The Power of the Right Support
Peter and Lee’s success wasn’t just about their own willpower. They had a team supporting them from the shore—experts tracking their route, monitoring conditions, and providing guidance when storms hit. Even though they were physically on the ocean, they weren’t truly alone.
And that’s exactly what most of us need in life: ✔ Someone who can see the bigger picture when we’re too deep in the challenge to gain perspective. ✔ Someone who reminds us why we started when fear or doubt makes us want to quit. ✔ Someone who holds us accountable to our goals, so we don’t drift off course.
Having the right people around you isn’t a weakness—it’s a strategy for success.
How to Find the Right Support for Your Journey
Not all support is created equal. Here’s how to ensure you’re surrounding yourself with the right people who will help you move forward:
1. Seek Guidance from Someone Who Has Walked the Path
Just as Peter and Lee had expert navigators guiding their route, you need someone who has successfully navigated major transitions and personal reinvention—someone who doesn’t just give advice but has lived the transformation you’re seeking.
2. Surround Yourself with People Who Lift You Higher
The company you keep can either reinforce your doubts or challenge you to grow. Find a community that inspires you, encourages you to dream bigger, and reminds you that your best days aren’t behind you—they’re ahead.
3. Be Willing to Receive Help
This one is key. If you’re used to being the strong one, the one who always has the answers, it can feel uncomfortable to admit that you need support. But true strength isn’t about going it alone—it’s about having the courage to receive help when it matters most.
Your Next Step: Who’s Rowing with You?
So, what’s your row? What’s the challenge that, if you conquered it, would change everything?
And more importantly—who’s in the boat with you?
If you’re tired of rowing alone and are ready to find the clarity, confidence, and support to create your next chapter, I’d love to help you navigate the journey.
Because the truth is—you were never meant to do this alone.
