The Power of Pausing: Why You Might Not Need to Push So Hard

Is it possible you’ve been striving for something you already have?

Hi friends,

It’s been a full and fascinating few weeks! I’ve had the joy of immersing myself in some truly soul-stretching experiences — from the deep wisdom of Marianne Williamson, to Peter Sage’s profound 5 day Mastering Manifestation Challenge, to a mind-expanding event with Tom Campbell in Madrid (where the synchronicities came thick and fast!). I also had the privilege of attending Dr Jo Martin’s ‘One Woman Conference’ in London — a beautiful reminder that when we finally decide to stop being Superwoman and give ourselves permission to shine, we inspire others to do the same.

All of this has been happening alongside real life too — supporting my daughters through big exams and navigating the usual juggling act of home, work, and inner growth.

There’s been a lot of inspiration, and also a lot of reflection: even in the middle of extraordinary opportunities and soul-deep encounters, our old stories still like to creep in.

I discovered how easy it is, when we’re busy or surrounded by a lot of ‘big’ energy, to slip back into old patterns of thinking without even realising it. I noticed myself feeling like I had to keep striving, pushing, figuring things out — even when things were actually going really well. It was such a clear reminder that our patterns don’t just vanish when life feels good — they can creep in when our guard is down.

I realised I’d been looking for something I already had. I was so busy ‘asking’ I didn't stop to notice what was already mine. Sometimes life is working perfectly in the background — and our job is to stay awake enough to notice, rather than falling back into the old habits of control or pressure.

I adore breakthrough moments like these — they’re the reason I do the work I do. The only thing that excites me more than my own discoveries is being present for, and witnessing, those of others. Here’s to your bingo moments this month.

You Don’t Have to Have It All Figured Out

So often, the habit of striving comes not from ambition, but from an old belief that we’re only safe or valuable when we’re working it out. That unless we have a plan or a solution, we’re falling behind. In other words, we tell ourselves that uncertainty means failure.

But it doesn’t.

Sometimes, the most powerful thing we can do is stop. Breathe. Take a look around and ask:
What if this is already enough? What if I am already enough?

When we let go of the mental scrambling and the need to "get it right," things have an incredible tendency to become clearer. We felt lighter, more present, more trusting of life’s timing and our own path.

You Already Know More Than You Think

We don’t have to figure it all out today. We don’t need a five-year plan or a grand vision board to start feeling good. What we do need is presence — the kind that allows us to see what’s already unfolding so our own wisdom can rise. Sometimes, to pause, just for a moment, is all it takes to notice what’s already in front of us. And we often realise it’s more than enough.

A Gentle Reframe

If you're feeling tired of always trying to “fix” things, here are a few reflections that might help you to pause and reset:

Instead of asking, “What should I be doing?” try asking, “What’s already working?”
Instead of pushing for answers, allow yourself to sit with the question.
Instead of striving for more, try savouring what is.

This is really what ‘being in the now’ means. Not mindlessly disregarding commitments, but releasing fear about the future and dissatisfaction with the past.

This Month's Book Recommendation

Untamed by Glennon Doyle

This is one of those books that can change lives. It certainly did mine! It is a raw, powerful invitation to stop striving to meet everyone else’s expectations and start listening to your own inner knowing. Glennon writes with courage, clarity, and humour as she explores what it really means to live untamed — to trust yourself, claim your truth, and let go of who you were told to be. If you’ve been feeling the pressure to figure it all out or keep pushing forward, this is a beautiful reminder that sometimes, the bravest thing we can do is pause… and listen to the voice inside.
