Embracing Change with Confidence – Making Bold Moves & Rewriting the Story

“When faced with making changes - what stories do you tell yourself?”

Hi friends,

This month, I’ve been deep in creation mode behind the scenes, bringing my new Life By Design programme to life. It’s been a labour of love—part vision, part vulnerability, and a whole lot of storytelling. Not just the stories I’m weaving into the content, but the ones I’ve had to rewrite in myself to bring it into the world.

At every stage, I heard those familiar whispers: “Is this good enough?” “Will people resonate with it?” In the past, that kind of self-doubt might have stopped me in my tracks. But this time, I made a conscious choice to tell a different story—one of trust, purpose, and belief in the value of what I have to share.

Now, with the programme almost ready to launch, I’m reminded just how powerful our internal narratives are. The stories we tell ourselves don’t just shape how we feel—they shape the actions we take. And when we change the story, we change everything.

So if you’re standing at the edge of something new, wondering if you’re ready—this one’s for you. You’re not alone. And yes, you absolutely can.

Change Is Hard… But Not Changing Can Be Harder

When you know, deep down, that something needs to shift, staying the same starts to feel unbearable. And yet, even when the signs are clear, embracing change can still feel scary—because it pushes us out of comfort and into uncertainty.

Here are a few of the stories that often hold us back—and how to rewrite them with courage:

Fear of Losing Control

Change often asks us to surrender the illusion of certainty. But the truth is, the only constant in life is change. When we shift from needing to control the outcome to trusting ourselves to handle whatever comes, our confidence grows naturally.

The Stories We Tell Ourselves

We all carry quiet narratives: “I’m too old.” “It’s too late.” “What will people think?” These beliefs usually took root long ago—but they’re not fixed truths.
If your current story isn’t serving you, it’s time to rewrite it with one that reflects who you truly are and where you’re going.

Discomfort Is a Sign of Growth

Stepping into the unknown is uncomfortable—but it’s also a powerful sign of expansion. Growth rarely happens in ease. It happens in the moments we say yes, even when our voice shakes.

Bold Doesn’t Have to Mean Big

Boldness isn’t always loud. Sometimes, the boldest move is quiet and deeply personal—finally sending that message, signing up for something new, or admitting to yourself that you’re ready for more.

Here’s the truth: You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need to take the next aligned step.

Cool Tip / Resource

One of my biggest blocks when I swapped my career for entrepreneurship was how to get out of my comfort zone in marketing. For a long time, I told myself the story that I just wasn’t “social media savvy”—that putting myself out there online wasn’t for people like me. Turns out, that story wasn’t true.

Like so many things in life and business, what felt impossible on my own became achievable—and even enjoyable—with the right kind of support. Working with someone who truly gets it can fast-track your growth and stop that one-step-forward, two-steps-back cycle.

Enter Karen Cureton.

Karen is a multi-award winning social media trainer, working with women in business to inspire them to grow through being visible on social media. Karen helps women who are either didn’t grow up with social media or are just overwhelmed by it and is passionate about ditching jargon, making it easy to understand and most importantly get results! She works with her clients 121 and through her two memberships, one for trainers and coaches and the other for women in business who are overwhelmed by social media but know they need to be seen!

Even if social media isn’t your challenge, the principle still applies: the stories we believe shape the results we create. And sometimes, rewriting the story means letting someone else help you turn the page.

Final Thoughts

Change can be scary—but so is staying stuck.

If something inside you is whispering “it’s time”—trust it. You don’t have to leap off a cliff. You just need to take the next small, aligned step.

Whatever chapter you’re ready to write next, do it with courage and self-compassion. Your future self is already thanking you.

You’ve got this.
